Instant Clones are all new to me, and I am struggling to understand how this can be an equivalent solution to persistent desktops, which are a great fit for us (we have <300 desktops at present). With Instant Clones, how do users install apps on their desktop, and have all of that persist? I see mention of DEM, and how it keeps settings and configurations, but not seeing anything about its preserving installed applications on the desktop. I wrote to the forza support and they said they couldnt restore any of my data. Starting the game on my Xbox and changing my start from LEGO to the mainland fixed it. Data, applications, and desktops are centrally managed and secured. Horizon Apps leverages Microsoft RDSH servers to deliver published applications or desktops and VM Hosted Apps on Horizon 7.9 or later to deliver published applications. I know that with Horizon8, Composer no longer exists, which means we will either need to move to Instant Clones (or, assuming we could continue using manual pool with desktops that we manually clone from master desktop VM template). I had an issue where the game would crash right before changing to the Welcome screen. Horizon Apps offers published applications and session-based desktops, without VDI. Users are free to install apps on their desktops and change most of the settings to customize their desktop. We currently have persistent desktops, which are created by Composer and then moved to a manual pool. Anyway, with so many parts that need to change, it feels best to first upgrade to 7.13.1 as our first step, in order to be able to start experimenting with Instant Clones (and then, later, deploy a UAG to replace Security Servers). Right now we're running Horizon 7.11 and ultimately want to upgrade to the latest supported version of Horizon8 (currently 2106, I believe).
